A Night at the Opera
These stereoscopic photographs take us into the historic foyer of the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden. The theatre opened in 1894, while its magnificent foyer was added in 1902 by architect Felix Genzmer. Designed in an opulent Neo-Rococo style, the interior is richly decorated with marble, gilded ornament, elaborate stucco and painted ceilings, including the preserved ceiling painting by Wiesbaden artist Kaspar Kögler. The final image offers a glimpse into the auditorium itself, focusing on its impressive chandelier.
